About The Event

Another Jaminaround, another stellar line-up of musicians and wordsmiths to grace the circle of the awe-inspiring Earthouse.

Jaminaround 2022 part 2 will be a special event featuring artists who are making work on the topic of the global climate crisis. As well as the program of performances, there will also be a section of the evening with invited guest speakers, a discussion between the guest speakers and the artists and a Q&A with the audience.

The event will attempt to be an example of a conscious entertainment  event - partying without the mindless mess. It will aim be as low impact  as possible, environmentally speaking whilst being high impact in terms  of being thought-provoking and artistically inspiring.

The parallel aim is to provide a inspiring space for discussing the most  urgent issue of our times and a sharing of creative ideas and knowledge  between people from diverse backgrounds and from different  perspectives.

Confirmed artists;

Dizraeli

Poet, producer, firestarter. Songwriter-MC, multi instrumentalist-raconteur… Dizraeli is a genre of his own. From building a frenzied underground following with his first band Bad Science (1999-2008),  on the way collaborating with artists as diverse as Kae Tempest, Jam Baxter and Eliza Carthy in his explorations of the crossover between hiphop, folk, bass music and all between…and most recently releasing his solo album The Unmaster, nominated for Album of the Year by Gilles Peterson in the 2020 Worldwide Awards… Diz has always forged his own way.

Zena Edwards

Raised in Tottenham, North London, Zena Edwards has become known as one of the most unique voices of performance poetry to come out of London. She  is also known for her polemic voice, speaking on panels for climate change and creative campaigning for equality and equitable rights.

Jasper Hoiby's Planet B

Danish Bassist and composer Jasper Høiby released his new solo project and album in March 2020  with a monumental ambition, vision and message and kick started the release of an arc of four albums over five years. Each album focuses on four global topics of vital importance – Humanity, Climate Change,  Artificial Intelligence and Monetary Reform. Planet B, the project title and title of the first album, is a mix of deep, evocative, thought-provoking voice samples, loops, held together with the open, majestic interplay of three deeply intuitive and creative musicians –  Jasper Høiby, saxophonist Alex Hitchcock & drummer Marc Michel.

HOWL

Howl are a collective of singers from a variety of  different disciplines and backgrounds, from folk to opera. They came  together in between lockdowns during the pandemic, gathering in parks or  back gardens, singing together over the last year whenever and however  they could. They have put together an eclectic program of all the music  they discovered together during this strange time, including Venezuelan  contrapuntal music, choral works by Caroline Shaw and Meredith Monk,  their own re-workings of trad songs from the British isles and new  compositions by Cosmo Sheldrake, Emilio Reyes, Heloise Tunstall-Behrens  and Lydia Samuels.

Speakers

Representatives of Land Workers Alliance and Extinction rebellion will be presenting a short pitch on their campaigns to effect policy change and grassroots activism.
